Hemang Jani backs IndiGo over SpiceJet amid limited aviation stocks

Independent market expert Hemang Jani remains bullish on InterGlobe Aviation-owned IndiGo over SpiceJet amid the limited options in the listed aviation space. In a recent ET Now interaction, Jani reaffirmed his preference for InterGlobe over competitors like SpiceJet, citing operational transparency and growth visibility as key factors.

Jani pointed out that while SpiceJet has shown promise, its prolonged struggles in demonstrating operational performance and lack of transparency in sharing key data remain concerning.

"It is taking far too long to show any kind of operational performance, and what is concerning is the lack of transparency in sharing the key operational data," he noted. While the last quarter benefited from events like the Kumbh Mela and general activity, he believes investor enthusiasm will remain muted.

According to Jani, InterGlobe has been the best play in the aviation sector, with a strong growth trajectory. He highlighted the company's advantage due to two upcoming airports in Mumbai and Noida and its planned fleet expansion, which may strengthen its market position.

"Even at this point, despite the valuations, when you look at the overall growth visibility with two new airports coming in... and more importantly, the additional aircrafts that they will get, their positioning will be far more formidable," Jani explained.

Given these factors, he sees InterGlobe as a clear winner in the aviation sector, stating that at current price levels, it remains a no-brainer investment choice. Also read: UltraTech Cement shares slide 5% on entering wires & cables segment. What brokerages say?
