Ready for holy dip? Sensex gave negative returns during every Kumbh Mela in last 20 years

As millions of devout Hindus get ready to take a holy dip at the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj, Sensex may also be gearing up for a dip during the 45-day-long festival season, shows historical market patterns. As stock markets have a peculiar tendency to often follow seasonal patterns, one such seasonality analysis shows that Sensex has never given positive returns during any of the Kumbh Mela festivals held in the last two decades. The average loss for Sensex during the last six Kumbha Melas held since 2004 is 3.42% with negative returns during all the festivals, according to an analysis done by SAMCO Securities.
