HAL shares rally 6% as Ministry of Defence to procure ‘Prachand’ helicopters

Shares of Hindustan Aeronautics surged nearly 6% to its all-time high of Rs 5,484.20 on BSE in Tuesday's trade as the company announced that the Ministry of Defence has issued a request for proposal (RFP) to procure 156 Light Combat Helicopters from the company. The tender’s value is said to be worth around Rs 50,000 crore, the largest single order given for the acquisition of choppers to an Indian company. Out of the total number of helicopters named ‘Prachand’, 90 will be procured for the Indian Army while 66 for the Indian Air Force, stated HAL in its filing to the exchanges. The Army and Air Force will get the `Prachand’ helicopters that have been designed specifically for Indian conditions and have shown good performance at super high altitude areas during trials in Ladakh.
