Swiggy, Eternal, Jio Financial allure HNI investors even as Nykaa, Premier Energies lose charm

Image
[hfe_template id='11223'] [ad_1] In a quarter marked by market jitters, Trump tariff tantrums, and valuation vertigo, India’s high net-worth individuals (HNIs) showed they’re not shy about taking bold bets but they’re also not afraid to pull the plug. Data from Prime Database reveals that HNIs poured over Rs 760 crore into battered Swiggy shares, Rs 248 crore into Eternal (earlier known as Zomato), Rs 342 crore into Jio Financial Services during the March quarter, even as they aggressively exited darlings like Nykaa and Premier Energies. This frenzy of rotation wasn’t without broader implications: the total value of HNI holdings in NSE-listed companies fell by a staggering Rs 1.02 lakh crore, dropping to Rs 8.07 lakh crore as of March 31, 2025, an 11.27% plunge from the previous quarter, according to the data. Their shareholding by value shrank to 1.98% from 2.09% in just three months. The numbers clearly suggest that HNIs used the quarter to book profits and rotate capi...

Image
[hfe_template id='11223'] [ad_1] Nifty ended Friday with weekly declines of 2.7%, falling in all five sessions during the week. When markets resume trading on Monday, a host of important domestic and global events lined up for the week are likely to impact them. On Friday, Nifty closed at 24,180.80, lower by 218.60 points or 0.9%. Commenting on the current trends, Rajesh Bhosale, Equity Technical Analyst at Angel One, stated that it was a challenging week for investors and traders, as the markets experienced a broad-based sell-off throughout, with Nifty dipping below 24,200 after two weeks of consolidation. October has been particularly tough, with the benchmark down more than 6% so far, he added. "While the daily chart may not fully capture the depth of this move, the weekly and monthly charts have shown significant distortion, suggesting potential further price corrections, followed by a possible period of time-wise correction," Bhosale said, adding that it w...

Nifty Bank underperforms Nifty50, most sectoral peers. Should you still bet on financials?

Image
[hfe_template id='11223'] [ad_1] While Nifty Bank has logged in double digit returns over the last 1 year, its performance against broader Nifty50 and its other sectoral peers remains subpar. With rising deposit cost and moderation in net interest margins (NIMs), experts remain wary of the pack, toning down their expectations from the sector that has the largest weight on the D-Street benchmarks. The 12-stock Nifty Bank has grown by 16% over a 1-year period versus Nifty's 29% in the same time. Realty towers over its other sectoral peers followed by power stocks. Nifty Realty's 1-year returns stand at 83% while BSE Power has yielded 79% returns. Others including Nifty IT, Nifty Pharma, Nifty Oil & Gas, Nifty Auto and Nifty Metal have risen between 36% and 75%. Meanwhile, BSE Cap Goods index has jumped by 59%. The index's underperformance is largely on the back of lackluster show by the private banks. In this, HDFC Bank has given returns of just 3% over a 1...

[hfe_template id='11223'] [ad_1] In the election-heavy June quarter, NRI investor Rajiv Jain-led GQG Partners raised stakes in 3 Adani stocks - Adani Energy, Adani Enterprises and Adani Ports - and its biggest India bet ITC.
