SEBI mandates advertiser verification on social media to curb investment frauds

[hfe_template id='11223'] [ad_1] Market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) on Friday directed all Sebi registered intermediaries uploading or publishing advertisements on social media platforms (SMPs) like Google and Meta, to register on these platforms using their email ids and mobile numbers as registered on SEBI SI Portal. These social media platform providers will then carry out advertiser verification of Sebi registered intermediaries after which the intermediaries will be permitted to upload or publish advertisements on these platforms. All Sebi registered intermediaries who want to upload/publish advertisements on these platforms will have to update their contact details in the intermediary database on the SEBI SI Portal by April 30, 2025, a media release published by the regulator said. Six entities pay Rs 3.49 crore to settle front-running trade case with Sebi

[hfe_template id='11223'] [ad_1] Six entities, including Samir Kothari and Jitendra N Kewalramani, has settled with Sebi in a case pertaining to the suspected front-running of trades by paying Rs 3.49 crore towards settlement charges. The other entities that settled the matter with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) are Kuntal Goel, Jitendra N Kewalramani HUF, Dipika J Kewalramani and Pallavi Shailesh Nayak, Sebi said in the order on Thursday. Apart from the settlement amount, Sebi's committee placed other conditions to settle the case. These included disgorgement of unlawful gain totalling Rs 2.06 crore along with 12 per cent interest per annum from the date of the impugned transaction to the date of filing of the settlement application for disgorgement to be paid by Samir Kothari, Kuntal Goel and Jitendra N Kewalramani.
