Sensex off to a flat start, Nifty below 26,000 as IT, oil & gas stocks fall

Indian equities kicked off the Tuesday session on a muted note, edging marginally lower on November 25, after a fall in IT and oil & gas stocks outpowered hopes of a US Fed interest rate cut in December. On the flipside, metal and PSU bank stocks traded higher. The S&P BSE Sensex rose 100 points, or 0.1%, to 85,008 at the open, while the NSE Nifty 50 edged higher 40 points, or 0.1%, to 25,998. On the 30-stock Sensex, shares of Power Grid, Infosys, HCL Tech, M&M, ICICI Bank, and NTPC slipped up to a percent. The broader market also mirrored weak trends, with both small-cap and mid-cap indexes down 0.10% each. Global Markets All Wall Street indices logged solid gains. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.44%, the S&P 500 advanced 1.55%, and the Nasdaq Composite surged 2.69%, powered by robust buying in heavyweight tech stocks.
