An expert group under former RBI executive director G Padmanabhan continues to work on bettering the system, and some moves on ease of doing business and better risk management are being mulled, he added. "At this point in time, there is no thought of Sebi taking any further steps in this particular regard," Narayan said, addressing an event organised by Sebi-promoted NISM here. He also made it clear that the Sebi is not mulling any steps on "suitability and appropriability", which will determine who can trade in the derivatives market. On Monday, Power Finance Corp dropped 3.7% to ₹525 and REC declined 2.6% to ₹592. In last five days, the stocks fell around 5% each while the benchmark Nifty shed 1.3% during the same period. Analysts see these stocks falling further as investors are shifting money from recent favourites like PSUs and power stocks to the so-called defensive sectors. "In the last one and a half years, the PSU theme has played out very well, but is now witnessing profit booking," said Hemang Jani, director, Finazenn, an investment advisory. Aditya Birla Capital, Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail (ABFRL), Bandhan Bank, Biocon, Birlasoft, Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers and Chemicals (GNFC), Granules India, Hindustan Copper, India Cements, Indiamart Intermesh, LIC Housing Finance, Manappuram Finance, Punjab National Bank (PNB), RBL Bank and Steel Authority of India (SAIL). Chambal Fertilizers & Chemicals and Granules India have moved out of the ban. The Future & Options contracts of any stock enter the ban period when the open interest (OI) on it crosses 95% of the market wide positions limits or MWPL. The ban on it is reversed only if the open interest falls below 80%. Traders who trade in index do not encounter a situation of security ban.
