Fed meeting outcome today: How it may impact Indian stock market

Image
[hfe_template id='11223'] [ad_1] Millions of investors across the globe will have their eyes glued to their screens tonight when the Federal Open Market Committee meeting gets underway. At stake is the answer to the trillion-dollar question of whether the Federal Reserve — in its wisdom —will decide to keep the interest rates higher for longer, or will it, as a few economists are hinting, make a hawkish pivot. Chair Jerome Powell, could chalk out a future trajectory, without any rate cuts this year, or bring it down from the three rate cuts the other Fed officials were projecting. Young retail Indian investors can mistakenly treat these macroeconomic developments lightly, believing instead that it won’t have an impact on the Indian markets. But that would be a costly blunder. Market players love to cite a dictum. It goes: When the US sneezes, the world catches a cold. It means that macroeconomic and financial developments within the US have larger repercussions on the gl...

Tata Chemicals shares fall over 4% on first-ever quarterly loss in nine years; Kotak Equities screams sell

Image
[hfe_template id='11223'] [ad_1] Shares of Tata Chemicals fell 4.5% to the day’s low of Rs 1,050 on BSE in Tuesday’s trade after the company reported its first-ever quarterly loss in nine years, hurt by a one-time charge incurred in its UK operations along with lower prices and demand for soda ash. Kotak Institutional Equities (KIE) recommended a ‘sell’ rating on the stock with a target price of Rs 770, which suggests a downside of nearly 29%. Tata Chemicals reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 850 crore in the quarter ended March 31, compared to a profit of Rs 709 crore a year ago. “The company reported weak earnings for 4QFY24, as expected, amid pricing pressure on soda ash across geographies. Earnings seem likely to remain near current run-rates through most of FY2025 in the context of continued oversupply; the large impairment charge in the UK is perhaps an indication,” said a report by Kotak Institutional Equities. The primary reason for the earnings to stay near ...

These largecaps have ‘strong buy’ & ‘buy’ recos and upside potential of more than 20%

Image
[hfe_template id='11223'] [ad_1] Synopsis The way things have panned in the last one month, it is clear that bulls are not in any mood to leave the street. The pattern of the sectoral rotation is visible. Yesterday, it was banking which led the rally while there was a correction in real estate. Today it is auto stock which is leading the rally. Clearly the under current is bullish and if there is no major description coming in, then it is very likely that bullish trend is likely to continue. At this point of time, the preference toward large cap stocks continues as Q4 numbers from large companies are coming in line with expectations. ET screener powered by Refinitiv’s Stock Report Plus lists down quality stocks with high upside potential over the next 12 months, having an average recommendation rating of “buy” or "strong buy". The screener applies different algorithms for all BSE and NSE stocks. Both at the level of indices and market breadth, bulls are in cont...

Image
[hfe_template id='11223'] [ad_1] Synopsis After a short rest in the month of March, bulls are back on the street. The good part is that market breadth in every segment of the market has been positive. If one looks at the quarterly results which have come till now, they are largely in line with estimates and expectations of the broad trend of the sector. But given the fact that the valuation wise are toward the higher end of the range, it would still be time to keep some check and balance and continue to apply some filters. For investors who are looking to increase their exposure to stocks and if there is any improvement in them which has made the overall score go up in the last one month then have a look at those stocks. These selected stocks depict a strong upward trajectory in their overall average score which is based on five key pillars i.e. earnings, fundamentals, relative valuation, risk and price momentum. This implies that there has been a significant improvement...
